Letter From The President:

Dear  New Rotarian,

Welcome and congratulations on becoming a member of Rotary International and our Sioux City Downtown Club #54.  You are now a member of an organization with over 27,000 clubs world-wide with a  main focus of helping youth.  For our mutual benefit  we strongly encourage good attendance.

Rotary has no secret handshake, no secret policy, no official creed, no secret meetings or rituals.  It is an open society of men and women who simply believe in helping others.

Rotary offers its members twenty avenues for personal growth.  Those areas include: fellowship, leadership, citizenship, cultural awareness, entertainment and the opportunity to meet some really nice people from Sioux City and around the world.

Your club generates over $20,000 a year for local youth projects by “fining” members who receive positive public recognition and through birthday donations.  We recognize top students from the four Sioux City High Schools with our Student of the Month/Year Award;  community volunteers with our Service Above Self Award; and local business leadership with our Keyway Award.

Rotary’s motto is Service Above Self, and you will come to understand the importance of its meaning as you become more familiar with our organization.  If you have questions, please feel free to ask and don’t hesitate to offer ideas to improve our club.  This is your club and we’re proud to have you as a member.

Sincerely,

David Madsen, President
